I got this question from a used panty seller who is branching out into digital content:
I’m awkward and shy af how do you make good videos?
This is a brilliant question and as always, I wanted to blog the answer because I know it will help plenty more new sellers.
Ok, so let’s start with my own experience.
When I first started selling my used knickers online, I was only ever going to sell panties. When I joined Pantydeal and saw that panties was only the beginning, I made a pact with myself that it was just worn items I was here to sell.
Why?
Well, I guess because I had in mind that that was my boundary. That was the line I wouldn’t cross. For all kinds of reasons – some of which I go into in Hot Shame.
But then lo and behold the Universe presents you with an opportunity and you make a decision.
My first buyer actually didn’t want panties at all. He wanted 5 pics of me in states of undress. (I go into more detail about this in my book ‘How I Made $15,000 in one year Selling Used Panties Online‘.
And the offer was just so ridiculously easy that I went for it.
So that was my boundary line more or less immediately shifted.
The next natural progression from pics is videos and I decided there was no harm making 2-3 premade videos as that’s what all the other sellers were selling AND I was getting asked a lot by potential buyers if I had a list of videos for sale.
The first premade video I made was solo play.
I had literally never videoed anything like that ever before.
In fact, I bloody hate being on camera or in front of the camera so there’s that.
I just didn’t really think about it. I made the classic rookie mistake of filming in portrait mode. THAT is how clueless I was.
I sent it to my buyer via WeTransfer (which allows them to download it – another rookie mistake).
And that was that.
I never, ever watched any videos I made. Even when editing I was sort of looking through my eyes half-shut!
But once you’ve made your first it gets easier. You will probably feel self-conscious and that’s ok, perfectly natural. Most sellers feel weird filming videos – especially custom or scripted ones!
So, back to the question at hand.
There are three aspects here.
Make good videos – technically.
Make good videos – your buyers want to see.
Make good videos – your performance.
Let’s take each in hand.
Technically.
You do NOT need to invest in expensive equipment, nor should you when you’re just starting out. You need to know that you like the work first before buying all kinds of things.
A good smartphone will work fine.
There is equipment you might want to consider though. A tripod for one. A phone attachment to said tripod (if it doesn’t come with one). Good lighting. Diffuser/reflector to work with said lighting. It’s easier to get lighting right at the point of recording than trying to fix it in the edit phase.
I go in to all the nooks and crannies of equipment and lighting in my course Pics That $ell.
You will need a decent space to record. It doesn’t have to be a big space but it should be tidy.
Most sellers record videos in their bedrooms. That works well given that the theme we’re likely working with here is sensual and sexy.
Clear the space so that you are the centre of attention – not your dirty washing pile!
Make sure you have enough battery on your phone and that you’re in focus!
Put a clock beside your phone so you can see how long you’ve been recording.
Use a good video editor. I recommend VivaVideoPro but there are literally hundreds of video apps. In all honesty, I only started editing videos in the last few months. Before that I just snipped off the beginning and end of the video (me pressing start/end record). So don’t think you need to be an editing genius. BUT a good edit can really amplify the impact of your vid.
Upload your video to your drive. Share via the drive.
That’s it for technicality.
Let’s move on to good content.
If you browse your platform, you’ll see that most sellers gravitate around the same kind of content.
Solo-play. Couples. Fetish-related. JOI.
It’s a good idea to create a premade list of 5-10 videos to supplement your income (if you’re happy to do them of course).
You’re not going to be bloody perfect straight out the bat, but in many ways that’s good. A lot of buyers really like the fact you’re an amateur. The only thing you need to do is enjoy yourself.
If they want film-quality, they’d go to professional porn actresses!!!
Pick content that appeals to you. If you’re not sure what you’re doing, research. Before you film your JOI, watch 10 videos on Pornhub. Write down and repeat the lines. This will help your brain to learn. But don’t freak out. Don’t try to memorise or anything. Just go with the flow. The more you do it, the better you’ll get.
Which leads me on to your performance.
Make sure you won’t be interrupted by phones, notifications, cats, a bloody AMAZON delivery (happened to me twice).
Listen to music beforehand to get you in the mood – check out the Panty Selling School Spotify playlist.
Do your hair and makeup. Even if your face isn’t shown, there’s something to be said for getting dolled up. It gets you more in the mood and feeling confident.
Aim to record your premade video content before and around ovulation. This will make your content exceptional.
Don’t be discouraged if you have to start over a few times. I’ve made videos where I’ve had to start again 5 or 6 times. It’s frustrating but you get there.
You might want to start making the video BEFORE you press record if you know what I mean. It really helps to be relaxed and in the zone before you press record, rather than going in cold.
Like I said, don’t freak out about it too much.
Whatever you create, your guy is likely going to love it. He won’t notice any of the things you do.
Have as much fun as you can and relax. You’ll get better every single time you create.
