A used panty seller in my group asked the following question:
“Do I even message buyers that have a crazy amount of reviews when I literally have nothing and know nothing. I mean of course I’ll only want to message buyers that have reviews(or is that wrong too?) but i feel like if they have over 50 reviews then I feel like I don’t really have a shot with them because I’m such a newbie.”
This is such a great question.
So here’s what I have to say about this.
When you have no reviews you can feel very powerless, like you have to prove yourself (and you do) and like you’re waiting on some buyer out there to take pity on you and buy from you.
Won’t someone just buy your stuff?!?!?!
I get it.
We’ve all been there.
And I’ve spoken before about the number of guys out there just waiting to take advantage of your predicament by asking you for freebies in return for reviews.
So yeah, it’s a tough gig getting your first review.
The way to do it is to really just keep fucking showing up and building the know-like-trust factor. I understand how frustrating it is!
So to answer the question, here are the options.
Message the top buyers.
Don’t message the top buyers.
If you don’t message the top buyers, they’re less likely to buy from you.
Not 100% not going to, but certainly you’ve lessened your chances CONSIDERABLY.
These guys have proven themselves to be reliable and genuine buyers. So they are actually TARGETED by sellers too.
Yes, they are more likely to get hundreds of messages than buyers with little or no reviews.
So I understand the logic here.
If you are going to reach out to them then it’s going to have to be a snappy and creative message that gets their attention. “Hey, how are you?” WILL NOT FUCKING CUT IT.
You could even message them and ask them very nicely if they’d give you some advice given that they are top buyers on what you can do to gain the trust of buyers and prove yourself on the site.
They might even come up with ideas that I haven’t thought of (is it possible?).
Chances are they won’t reply. But at least you’re trying. The alternative is to not message anyone that you believe holds some magic power over you or is (heaven forbid) out of your league!!
That’s not the kind of energy we want to bring to the table.
EVERY FUCKING SELLER ON THE PLATFORM STARTED AT ZERO.
We’ve all been there.
The ones that are still there? Didn’t give up.
They did the things to get the sales and eventually someone bought.
You will get there.
Please do NOT think reviews are the be all and end all. They’re nice to have but it’s MORE IMPORTANT to work on lots of other things that make you a great seller.
Like your attitude.
Like your community.
Like your vibe.
Like your sales techniques.
Like great customer service.
Like your mindset.
Dig?
Reviews will come.
They can’t NOT!
So don’t be afraid to reach out. You’re not asking them to buy (hopefully). You’re just being a human contacting another human.
If they don’t reply, fuck it!
On to the next one.
I hope that helps!
